Reviewed By: Ms. Nita Samantaray

“The Monk’’ is the debut novel of “Mr. Akshay Shroff’’. The story is centred  to a ten-year old Lakshya Gaitonde who dreams of following a career in cricket like his idol, Sunil Gavaskar. But destiny has other plans for him. He loses his father, Police sub-inspector Rajaram Gaitonde in the Mumbai terror attack of March 1993. He decides to follow his father’s footsteps and becomes a police officer. In the July 2006 serial train blasts on the Mumbai suburban network, he loses his mother and fiancée. In consultation with the Commissioner of Police, he devises a diabolical plan to crush the menace of terrorism at its roots. You have to read this book to know does he succeed in his mission or not.

I was surprised to see such a masterpiece which is claimed to be the debut novel of the Author. Truly author has done a great Job in his debut. This novel is very much informative as Author has done a lot of research before writing, It reflects from the book. “The Monk’’ is a page turner and It will surely create an impact on your mind for lifetime. Very few authors has the writing style which hold the readers till the last page of the book and I can surely say “Mr. Akshay Shroff’’ is one such writer. I wish to read more from the Author.

I would surely recommend this book to someone who would like to read something dynamic.
